I’m Tracy Sisk, LMHC and Ph.D. Candidate—
and a fellow swirl-walker in the making of a mental health professional.
Welcome — I am so glad you are here.
Right now, I’m deep in dissertation mode (snacks within arm’s reach), studying the tension we all feel—between who we are and who we’re becoming. My research explores the intersection of professional identity formation and our personal lives—especially our intimate relationships.
And I’m not doing it alone.
My dissertation chair and long-time advisor, Dr. Theopia Jackson, PhD, continues to walk this journey with me—her influence and insight are woven into this space in ways both seen and unseen.
Because let’s be honest: personal life doesn’t pause while you’re chasing licensure.
I’ve sat with clients through the hard stuff while navigating my own.
I’ve overthought my chart notes.
I’ve wrestled with supervision feedback and spiraled through imposter syndrome—
all while trying to remember what plans I have with friends.
The Practitioner’s Place was born from the swirl.
From the space between semesters, practicum, internship, and the next “what now?”
From the place where life and career aren’t two tracks, but one path we walk together.
This space isn’t here because of a failure in the people who support us.
It’s here because the system is overwhelmed—and can’t always hold what’s needed.
TPP fills in the gaps, not by replacing supervision or therapy, but by offering something those structures weren’t designed to hold:
Gentle, grounded presence in the in-between.
No grades. No evaluations.
Just presence, process, and a soft landing to recalibrate—without performing.
Here, I hold space for emerging practitioners like you to breathe, connect, and grow.
Because you’re not just building a career—
you’re building a self.
One steady step, one messy middle, one grounding breath at a time.
And yeah, probably with a snack in your bag and a few “What The..." moments along the way.
This is where it starts to feel like you again.
